India is incredible, overwhelming, and absolutely doable as a solo female traveler. Here's what we've learned over years of exploring.
Dress modestly
Cover shoulders and knees. Loose pants and kurtas are comfortable and respectful.
Stay in well-reviewed places
Read recent reviews. Women-only hostels exist in major cities and are excellent.
Use Uber and Ola
Skip random taxis. Both apps work in 100+ Indian cities.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off, leave. Don't worry about being polite.
